Maesydre playground fencing to cost almost £12k

A Shropshire company will be carrying out work to sort out the fencing at Maesydre playground, at a cost of nearly £12,000.

The current fencing and gate need to be completely replaced, with Welshpool Town Council bringing in three quotes, as required.

The Telford-based company – Midland Fencing – was chosen as the middle quote, coming in almost £4,000 cheaper than a local company, and just a little more expensive than the cheapest quote from a Wolverhampton company, who were ruled out due to them not coming out to see the job in person before quoting.

The work will cost £9,750 with VAT to be added on top.

A further £1,000 will be spent on replacing the gate to the playground at the country park near The Flash.

The money will come out of the Town Council’s £25,000 budget for playgrounds set aside for the current year.
