Lunch time raid stuns town centre shoppers

02/09/2024 @ 03:34

Police have carried out what appears to be a raid on another empty shop in Welshpool town centre.

Officers could be seen smashing their way into the former Savers shop close to The Cross, with one eyewitness telling us that officers with a dog caught a man in the former NatWest car park at about 1.30pm.

The eyewitness told us that the man was only wearing boxer shorts and a t-shirt and appeared to be barefooted.

Dyfed-Powys Police said they will provide an official update shortly, but residents were already speculating that it could be another drugs raid.

Welshpool has become a centre for cannabis growing with massive drug farms previously found in the former HSBC building and former County Times offices.
