Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed this morning that another “large-scale” cannabis facility was found during yesterday’s dramatic lunch time raid in Welshpool town centre.

Officers were seen smashing their way into the former Savers shop close to The Cross, with one MyWelshpool reader telling us that a man in boxer shorts and barefooted was arrested in the former NatWest bank car park.

“One person has been arrested following the discovery of a large-scale cannabis grow in Welshpool,” a police spokesperson confirmed.

“Officers executed a warrant at an address on Broad Street on Monday. One man has been arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and remains in police custody.

“A police presence remains at the location as the investigation continues.”

Welshpool has become a major centre in the drugs trade with two massive cannabis farms previously discovered in the empty HSBC Bank building and the former County Times offices.
