New Carnival parade route published

17/06/2024 @ 10:22

As we revealed last week, health and safety concerns have forced Welshpool Town Council to create a new route for the Carnival parade on Sunday.

The Operations Team identified a problem with the route at Jehu Road junction whilst carrying out their risk assessment, so Sunday’s (June 23) route will now start at The Quarry, close to the Raven Roundabout.

It will then go in a straight pathway through the town and towards Maesydre where the field will be full of activities including: 9-hole miniature golf course, The Quack Pack dog and duck show, Funfair and Falconer, with the Montgomery Energy Group’s free bike scheme back again this year, allowing people to drop off unwanted/unused bikes and/or take home recycled bikes to encourage an environmentally friendly method of transport.

There will also be Caribbean limbo dancers, a steel drum band, the Mid Wales Classic Vehicle Club, and much more.

The afternoon will see a variety of charity, community and food stalls and entertainment in the arena for the whole family from 1pm-5pm.

Entry is free, but donations will be gratefully received for future events.

The procession will now start at 12pm from the Quarry garage. Any child wearing a Caribbean-style shirt/dress/fancy dress is welcome to join the parade.

If you want to enter a float, email kimberly@welshpooltowncouncil.gov.uk or call 01938 553142 for more information.
