The Kings Head A have further increased their lead at the top of Division One in the Welshpool and District Darts League sponsored by The New Saints FC, writes Steve Lloyd.

The Guilsfield team beat nearest rivals Green Dragon A, 5-2, with some exceptional individual performances from both sides on Friday evening.

Dave Rix, Kacey Jones (180 and a 17-dart 501), Oscar Hyland (104 out shot) all won their singles for the Kings who secured both doubles. Dave Boyle and Rhys Butler (who scored superbly with 2 x 174s and a 17-dart 501) replied for the Green Dragon A. Mitch Butler also took out a 116 shot.

The Westwood B came away from the Red Lion A 5-2 winners, and more fine scoring on the night from Clive Jones and John O’Sullivan for the hosts, but Jordan Harding (14-dart 501) Jamie Cater, Chris Proctor and both doubles accounted for the Westwood B.

The Westwood A hosted the Punchbowl and despite the Punchbowl’s Gary Lewis 103 shot out and captain Mike Hall winning, they lost 5-2. Alan James, Steve Lloyd, Gareth Ashley (180 and a 17-dart 501) and Dave Watson won for the Westwood A with the doubles shared.

The Green Dragon C have finally broken their unwanted losing streak by beating the Oak Guilsfield. Gethin Stephens (105 out shot) Dave Knight and both doubles went the Dragon C’s way, while Mike Walsh, Aled Jones (18-dart 501) and Jordan Pruden won for the Oak.

No report for the Grapes A v Compass.

In the second division, the Owl & Pussycat increased their lead at the top after a fine 7-0 win over the Red Lion Misfits. Joe Jones, Will Powell, George Price, Callum Greatorex, Matt Knight (161 out shot) and both doubles completed the whitewash.

Second placed Pheasant enjoyed a fine 5-2 win at the Red Lion Castle. Richard Jenkins, Billy Evans, Lewis Evans, Rob Finney (180) and Bobby Gough won for the Pheasant while Castle took both doubles to stay in third.

Moving up into fourth place is the Black Lion Llanfair after visiting the Powis Arms Pool Quay and coming away 4-3 winners which places both teams on the same points. For the Powis Arms, Konrad Scott, Harry Jones (180) won and for the Black Lion, Iestyn Pryce, Dan Morgan and Bryn Lewis were victorious with the doubles shared.

The Kings Head B are now sixth after beating the Angel 4-3. The Angel’s Jack Pryce (19-dart 501) and Allister Williams both won but the Kings Head B secured the win with victories from stalwart, Tommy Kelleher, Spencer Lewis and youngster Alex Howard (164 out shot). The doubles were shared. There is only 12 points between sixth place and top so all to play for.

The Grapes B came out 5-2 winners over the Lion Caerhowell with Rob Jones, Mac Nicholl and Robbie Davies winning for the Grapes B and Jack Pope for the Lion. The doubles were shared.
