Division Two North table toppers Welshpool are looking to make it six wins from six league games this season when Dolgellau travel to Maesydre on Saturday, writes Gary Williams.
The visitors started the season with an impressive trio of wins in their opening games but have fallen short in their last two.
It has been a number of seasons since Dol played a league game in Welshpool and they’ll be looking to get their season back on track.
Welshpool head coach, Daley Jones, said: “The squad are really looking forward to Saturday’s game. “On the back of last week’s excellent 57-10 success against Rhyl, they are now chomping at the bit to get on the field again.
“However, we’re not getting carried away, Dolgellau will bring a new challenge for the boys and there is no hint of complacency and all talk of promotion has been banned! It’s a well-used cliché, but we’re taking one game at a time.
“We’ll be looking to put on another great performance for our fans who are turning out in their numbers.”
Elsewhere in this Division, there is an intriguing Mid Wales clash with Machynlleth hosting Newtown.
Equal on points in the table, this one is too close to call with an improving home side taking on a Newtown side nursing a few long-term injuries. Home advantage may be the decider in this clash.
In Division One North, COBRA welcome unbeaten leaders Nant Conwy to Cae Cobra.
There is no doubt that Nant, scoring tries for fun in their opening seven league fixtures, will start as red hot favourites, but it is also the chance for COBRA to show what they are capable of.
I don’t expect a home win but I think the score will be a lot closer than many are expecting.
COBRA’s second-string head to Flint in Division Three North East knowing that they need a win to keep in contention with the top three.
Despite only dropping points in one game this season, the Meifod men find themselves in fourth place, one above hosts Flint. A tight game is expected with COBRA needing a full-strength squad to take the spoils.
Unbeaten leaders Llanidloes will be looking to extend their winning run when Mold 2nds visit Cae Hafren. Form suggests a home win but the visitors, currently third in the table, should present a tough challenge. The way Llani are playing at the moment however, I’m predicting a comfortable home win.
This weekend sees the start of the WRU Youth competitions and we wish COBRA Youths the best of success when they travel to Caernarfon.
