Two arrests have been made following the latest car theft that happened in the town on Monday night.
Dyfed-Powys Police said that they were informed at 9.30am on Tuesday morning that a car had been taken the previous night from a property in Church Road, Welshpool.
Within 45 minutes the car was stopped and the arrests were made.
“The stolen car was sighted and stopped on the A470 near Llandinam at about 10.15am. Both occupants of the car were arrested,” a police spokesperson said.
“A man aged 26 was arrested on suspicion of theft, burglary, drug driving and other driving offences. A man aged 23 was arrested on suspicion of theft and burglary.
“Both have been released on conditional bail pending further police enquiries.”
There have been growing concerns in the town over the past week with social media reports of bicycles and a car being stolen, and readers telling us that other cars in the town and surrounding area have been broken into or tampered with.
The advice, as always, to ensure property is kept as secure as possible.
