Welshpool Rotarians welcomed Emma Snow to their March meeting for an interesting account of the work her grandfather, John Tomley, and his involvement with the foundation of NHS.
Meanwhile, members of Welshpool Rotary are pleased to support a number of charities nominated by members.
Welshpool Feathers, Blood Bikes and Welshpool Hub are all benefitting from support, while Rhiannon Jones is being supported in her attempt to raise funds for Cerebral Palsy by entering the London Marathon. Tayler Jefferson is also receiving support for his voluntary work in Ghana.
The Welshpool club is also supporting the Rotary UK Corporate Challenge which aims to bring 1,000 new corporate members to by June 30.
The challenge started on April 1 and all Rotary Clubs are encouraged to enlist at least one local business in the scheme.
Corporate membership offers local businesses an alternative flexible membership package which could involve three or four employees.
More information can be obtained from members of the club or Wendy Beaven on w.beaven@mail.com
The next meeting will be the annual frugal lunch, for RIBI Foundation, and will be held at the home of the President on Wednesday.
