It’s been another busy and informative month for both Inner Wheel and Rotary clubs in Welshpool with guests and potential members welcomed to their February meetings.
Inner Wheel was given an interesting talk on Chinese customs and folklore by Mrs Margaret Pepper, and members were handed lucky red money envelopes to herald the New Chinese Year of the snake.
Mrs Pat Rushen gave an account of her late father’s experiences during World War 2, when he was forced to leave his homeland during the German invasion. She was thanked by Mrs Susan Williams, President of the Welshpool Club.
The District Chairman will visit the Club in March for the next meeting.
Meanwhile, Rotary members were shown examples of glass ornaments and garden forge work by their guest speaker Di Vernon, who gave a talk on her change of career and subsequent move to Mid Wales.
The next meeting included a talk by Mr Paul Hodgson on his recent book ‘Soldiers of the Sultan’, detailing his life in Oman.
Members will help Daffodil collections for Marie Curie in March, and have been thanked by Home start Cymru for their financial assistance for a local family.
A Frugal Lunch for RIBI Foundation will take place in April at the home of the President, Mrs Wendy Beaven.
