It’s looking like a weekend of weather woes

The Welshpool area is set for a battering by heavy rain this weekend, if the latest Met Office warnings turn out to be correct.

After a couple of days of snow and ice, we can expect another cold evening tonight before the temperatures lift into Saturday with the arrival of heavy rain.

A yellow warning for rain covers a huge area of Wales from 6am on Saturday through to 6am the following day.

It can change and readers should check in with the Met Office site nearer the time, but from this close to the weekend it is likely to be pretty accurate.

What should we expect (according to the Met Office)?

  • Some communities may be cut off by flooded roads
  • Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
  • Possible power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses
  • Homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
  • Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life
  • Delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible
