Over 1,000 visitors to Tourist Centre last month

Welshpool Tourist Information Centre is reporting some brisk business despite the end of the recognised tourism season.

Addressing the Town Council, who are responsible for the operation, TIC manager Wendy Lewis said that October had been a busy month with 1,061 visitors coming through door.

She added that almost 200 telephone calls for information had also been received with "all sorts of questions" being answered.

Ms Lewis reported that handbags and souvenirs were proving popular purchases and that ticket sales ranging from £3 to £300 were being snapped up.

“We have a good team working there, and I must praise my staff,” she said.
