While most local high schools closed today due to the snow, pupils from Ysgol Llanfyllin enjoyed their snow day…. At school!
Welshpool, Newtown and Llanfair Caereinion’s schools all closed at some point today following the overnight snow, but Ysgol Llanfyllin took a different approach.
The school, which recently introduced a ban on mobile phone use during the school day, has placed a strong emphasis on fostering creativity and engagement in all its learners.
And today, pupils were encouraged to get outside and be creative, as this picture shows, as the school remained open to allow them to enjoy the outdoors.
Headteacher, Dewi Owen, said: “It’s been fantastic to see our pupils enjoying the snow together. Our mobile phone policy encourages students to connect with each other and the world around them, and today has been a wonderful example of that.”
Mr Owen added that Ysgol Llanfyllin “continues to prioritise the well-being and education of its pupils, ensuring that even on snow-covered days, the school remains a vibrant and inspiring place for young people to thrive”.
