Welshpool wakes up to a sprinkling of snow

Motorists and pedestrians are being urged to take the usual precautions this morning after the Welshpool area endured its first autumn snowfall.

The sharp drop in temperatures turned the overnight rain into sleet, and then snow which has stuck in many places.

And with temperatures remaining low throughout the morning, road conditions are expected to be tricky despite Powys County Council’s gritters planning two runs through the area’s main roads.

This picture was taken by a reader in Guilsfield, and we can expect more scenes like this all week until temperatures rise again at the weekend.
