Powys County Council have removed the final obstacle so that a local company can move forward with plans to build five flats in Welshpool town centre.
Potters Group resubmitted an application to build the flats above the commercial premises on 8-9 Church Street, having previously submitted plans last year for six flats.
At last night’s Planning Committee meeting at Welshpool Town Council, it was confirmed that Listed Building Consent for internal alterations had been approved by the regional authority.
That means that builders can remove an external staircase, install a window to replace a door, increase the height of an existing window, as well as associated works.
In approving the application, Powys wrote: “It is considered that the scheme is an acceptable one that will breathe new life into a listed building and will assist in securing its future maintenance.”
