Welshpool Country Park to open soon

Welshpool’s much anticipated country park is on target to be opened this summer, and we can reveal that it will be called Corfields Country Park.

Work has continued over the last few weeks to prepare the new facility close to The Flash with the fencing and gates already in place and the paths and signposts expected to be sorted within a week.

Environmental guidelines mean there must be a grace period from the time livestock is removed from the land to when it can be officially used by the public, and officials confirm that has now passed.

The playground is expected to be fitted by the end of July along with CCTV, and the issue of the name has also been resolved.

“It will be called Corfields Country Park in recognition of the land being secured through David and Rozanne Corfield,” said a Town Council spokesperson.
