Cause of major pupil sickness unknown

Two high schools in the area have reported high numbers of pupil absenteeism, but the cause has not been ideintified.

Both Ysgol Bro Caereinion and Ysgol Llanfyllin have experienced higher than usual rates of illness, and while it was feared Covid was sweeping through the schools, this has not been confirmed.

“Their pupil numbers are now recovering,” a spokesperson for Powys County Council told us. “The actual cause has not been confirmed by Public Health Wales.”

Many schools in the Welshpool area break up today for half term, with tomorrow being an inset day for teachers.
