As the town prepares to mourn the loss of young Alex Edwards this afternoon, his family has warned mourners who are unable to attend to avoid a cruel scam.
Alex, 22, who sadly died in a road traffic collision last month, will be laid to rest following a ceremony at St Mary’s Church at 1pm.
Mourners are invited to join the family for a wake at the Royal Oak afterwards.
But this morning, Alex’s father Steve had to take to social media after being alerted to a cruel scam linked to the funeral.
He posted: “Please do not click on any links or join any groups/pages which state they are anything to do with Alex’s funeral. Someone is setting up fake pages, saying there is a live stream. It is spam!”
The area has been stunned following the tragic death of Alex. In a statement provided by the family, they said: “Living in Guilsfield, Alex worked as an apprentice engineer at Technocover Ltd in Welshpool.
“With his warm, friendly and gentle nature, Alex left a lasting impression on those who got to know him.
“Alex will be missed beyond words by those who loved him so dearly, especially his mum Bryony, dad Steve, his sister Katherine, his girlfriend Macy, his family and friends.”
