Three injured in Guilsfield car smash

Three vehicles were involved in an accident on a notoriously fast stretch of road near Guilsfield yesterday evening.

The road from Harding’s Garage and Garden Centre to Pentrebeirdd was officially closed for road works, but access was permitted and at around 5pm an accident was reported.

“Dyfed-Powys received reports of a road traffic collision, involving three vehicles on the A490, outside Broniarth Isaf, Guilsfield at approximately 5pm on Monday, June 24,” a police spokesperson told us.

“The road remained closed whilst recovery and council attended to clear the road and re-opened by 8.30pm.”

Both ambulance service and fire also attended and there were three people reportedly injured, but no information on their conditions was available for publication.

Although the cause of the crash is not known, the stretch of road has come under discussion a number of times due to the speed of cars with Guilsfield Community Council campaigning for a 40mph speed limit to be introduced at the bottom of the hill by the village junction.
