The Central Wales footballing community came together to raise a whopping £2,600 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Organised by the Harding brothers – Vaughan and Glyn (pictured) – an afternoon was held at The Elephant & Castle in Newtown with former Wales striker Dean Saunders as the guest speaker and Willie Miller as MC.

“It was a brilliant afternoon and we can’t thank everyone enough for attending,” said Glyn. “It was great to bring the footballing community together to meet and reminisce. I hadn’t seen some of the lads for 45 years or so.”

The brothers want to thank the following for donating prizes: BJ Electrical, Elephant & Castle Hotel, Monty's Brewery, Welshpool Golf Club, Meatmasters Butchery Newtown.

Among the clubs represented were Newtown, Aberystwyth Town, Guilsfield, Welshpool Town, Abermule, Penrhyncoch, Machynlleth, Caersws, Montgomery Town, Waterloo Rovers, Llanfair United, Berriew, Llansantffraid Village and Four Crosses.

Donations are still being taken through Vaughan.harding@sky.com
