Llanfair Caereinion and Llanfyllin will have car charging points installed in the new year, Powys County Council has confirmed.
After securing funding from the Welsh Government, power supplies will be upgraded to allow for the points to be installed at Llanfyllin Car Park and Watergate Street car park, Llanfair Caereinion.
With more points to be added in Llanwrtyd Wells and Carno, it takes the total number of Powys council points available to the public to just 17 for the whole county with most county council-owned car parks having two with two charging sockets on each, allowing four vehicles to be charged simultaneously.
“It’s great that we are going to be making further additions to our electric vehicle charging network in the New Year, which will make this method of transport even more practical for our residents and visitors,” said Cllr Jackie Charlton, Cabinet Member for a Greener Powys.
“More people using electric vehicles will help to reduce air pollution, as they have zero-tailpipe emissions, and will help to cut our carbon footprint in the long-term as less CO2 will be produced.”
