Community fruit and veg initiative returns

23/08/2023 @ 10:32

Sharing is caring and one Welshpool initiative that does just that is making a return this Saturday.

Give’n’Take was set up by several Welshpool Town Councillors three years ago and it does exactly what it says on the tin – allows residents to donate their unwanted fruit and veg for others to take free of charge.

And this Saturday the stall will be set up outside the Town Hall once again for both givers and takers.

One of the councillors behind it, Cllr Richard Church, said: “Have you any surplus fruit and veg in your garden? With food prices higher than ever here’s an opportunity for people struggling with the costs. Donations of fruit and veg welcome, which will also be used to support the Community Hub and Meals on Wheels.”

The initiative also provides help for people to get their produce, like apples, picked and brought to the stall for distribution.

Cllr Carol Robinson added: “it’s a great community initiative and we’d like to thank all those who have supported it in the past.”

The stall will be positioned outside the Town Hall on Saturday from 10.30am-12.30pm.
