BREAKING NEWS: Welshpool area put on flood alert

The Welshpool area has been put on high flood alert tonight in a warning just released by Natural Resources Wales.

With heavy rain forecast in the area during the night five flood warnings and two flood alerts have just been issued.

Flood warnings are for the River Severn at Welshpool, Llandrinio, Criggion, Pool Quay and Buttington/Trewern.

Flood alerts are now in place for the Upper Severn and the Vyrnwy catchment area.
