It’s an early end of term for Guilsfield Primary School after every pupil was told to self-isolate for 10 days tonight.
In a message to parents and carers of the near-150 pupils, Headteacher, Huw Jones, said that he had been updated by the Powys Test, Trace and Protect team and “unfortunately Guilsfield School and Playgroup is now closed”.
“All children who attended Guilsfield School and the Guilsfield Playgroup yesterday (Tuesday) need to self-isolate for 10 days, with the first day being July 6,” he told parents. “This means that the last day of isolation will be Friday, July 16, as long as no-one in the household develops Covid-19 symptoms.”
He went on to say that only children will need to self-isolate and that parents will be contacted by Test, Trace and Protect in due course regarding the isolation process.
The last week of term will be taught via blended learning, he went on to say.
Numbers are continuing to rise across the Welshpool area, which also has one of the highest per centage of double vaccinated populations in the UK.
