HSBC: Your new branch is Newtown
The Welshpool branch will close at 2pm on September 24 with the bank admitting: “We know changes like this can affect people in different ways and are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.”
Despite a huge backlash to the announcement earlier this year, the bank is pressing ahead with its plans, expecting in-banking services to be carried out 15 miles down the road instead. It was hope that a mobile service may be available, but this now looks unlikely.
“Whilst more customers are choosing online, mobile and telephone banking, others still like speaking to an adviser in person. You can enjoy all the services you're used to at our other branches,” the bank has informed customers this morning.
“Your account number and sort code will stay the same, so you don’t need to do anything differently.
“If you use our Safe Keeping service, you can still do so at The Cross, 1 Broad Street, Newtown, Powys, SY16 2LX.”
