Leighton Primary School has sent its children home and roads are struggling to stay open amidst the heaviest rainfall of the autumn so far.
The Welshpool area has taken a 12-hour drenching with readers reporting problems on roads across the area.
The primary school has asked parents and carers to pick up their children, but we have not been told of any further closures in our area.
Roads in and out of the town are reported to be open, but with a lot of surface water. The situation could rapidly change though and motorists are urged to only travel if necessary as river levels rise rapidly.
In the town, a sewage manhole cover on Borfa Green bank (pictured) has been forced open by the force of the water, but there is no report of any house floods in the town thus far (1pm).
As always, emergency services are warning drivers not to drive through flood waters.
