Schools in the Welshpool area have largely come through with flying colours after the latest colour codes were published by the Welsh Government last night.
The National School Categorisation System grades all primary, secondary and special schools in one of four colours - green, yellow, amber and red - and it is good news for our area with most receiving Green or Yellow.
Welshpool High School and the primary schools of Arddleen, Banw and Buttington Trewern have all retained their Green status, and are joined this year by Guilsfield and Llanfair Caereinion who have improved from yellow.
The ratings, released last night to the media through the BBC, take into consideration how effectively schools are led and managed, the quality of learning and teaching, and the level of support the schools need to do better.
Across Wales, a total of 88.4% of schools have received the green or yellow status.
