Welshpool set for skatepark update

Welshpool Town Council will resume its monthly meetings following an August break with a Strategy, Policy and Development Committee meeting on Wednesday night.

And the skatepark jumps out as the biggest item once again on the agenda as frustrated residents continue to ask for an update on progress.

Councillors will be told: “We have spoken to Canvas and are just waiting for the detailed plans and costings to be sent over. We are meeting the new funding officer for the Lottery in a couple of weeks.”

The town has been left without a facility since the previous skatepark was closed due to health and safety issues around the pandemic time.

The Town Council made it a priority to replace it, but councillors have become frustrated at a lack of progress which has been blamed on the company, Canvas, being inundated with requests and work from across the country due to a Covid-forced backlog.

The council has earmarked the current Maesydre car park as its new location.
