The fellas are getting frisky!

The majestic deer at Powis Park are a sight to behold, but visitors are being urged to keep their distance over the coming weeks.

For centuries, the Deer Park has been home to a magnificent herd of red deer, an iconic part of the landscape that attracts visitors year-round.

But it is that time of year when the males get frisky, so keep your distance!

“The rutting season is currently underway and runs until late November,” the Park has warned.

“During this time, male deer (stags or bucks) lock antlers in competition for the female deer (does and hinds).

“Whilst a captivating natural spectacle, be mindful that deer are wild animals, and stags may show aggressive behaviour, particularly at this time. Please keep a respectful, safe distance from the deer and never approach them.”

The Deer Park is privately owned, and is not part of Powis Castle and Gardens which is under National Trust management.

Access to the park, within permitted areas, is provided to locals and visitors, however no dogs are allowed at any time, except assistance dogs.
