Ysgol Gymraeg Y Trallwng is celebrating national successes in both sporting and reading events with two national titles brought back to Welshpool.
The school was third in the National Bookslam competition, an English reading competition, after winning the Powys round after the pupils read and discussed a novel, created an advertisement, book cover and a blurb for the book.
“This is a fantastic achievement and shows the strength of bilingualism,” said proud Head, Angharad Davies. “The children were required to read and discuss a novel, create an advertisement of a book, a book cover and a blurb.”
Meanwhile, Arthur Pretty was crowned the National Urdd Cross Country champion for the Year 4 boys at Aberystwyth. In addition, he was joined by Elis and Owain to take the Year 4 cross country team crown for Wales. They were later named the top school for all age groups!
Today (Thursday), the school will be representing Montgomeryshire at the national Urdd cricket finals in Newport, South Wales.
“Once again, we are so proud of all the pupils at Ysgol Gymraeg Y Trallwng. Also, exceptionally proud of the staff, parents and guardians that ensure the children have an array of opportunities in all aspects of school life. We are a great team!” added Ms Davies.
