Welshpool face the unenviable task of travelling to second placed Pwllheli for their last game of a tough season in Division One North, writes Gary Williams.
They will head to the Peninsula without a handful of regulars but the good news is that they are travelling and will have fulfilled all of their fixtures in what has been a traumatic season, with just a draw as the only points gained.
I am sure that the players, whilst having enjoyed the experience of life at the top, will be looking forward to next season in Division Two where they can re-group and build again.
Elsewhere in Division One, COBRA also head north to take on Caernarfon. The Meifod men have enjoyed a mixed season, claiming some notable scalps but struggling on the road.
Caernarfon will want to end their season a high with some champagne rugby and it’s going to be a tough ask for COBRA to come home with any points.
In Division Two North today, Mold will be crowned Champions today at Machynlleth. The home side, if at full strength, are very difficult to beat on their own patch but, on this occasion, it’s unlikely that unbeaten Mold will be prevented from getting the full house of a perfect 16 wins out of 16 games.
What isn’t certain is who will join Mold and be promoted to Division One. Currently Teirw Nant sit in second, but Newtown in third spot, have two games in hand and are just a point behind. They meet in Nant Conwy next weekend.
This weekend, Newtown host Dolgellau and will be looking for maximum points to keep up the challenge. It’s still all to play for. Teirw Nant, one game to play, can finish on 61, Newtown with three games to go can finish on 70.
COBRA 2nds, due to play at Llangefni 2nds in the North Wales Cup, have called off due to lack of players.
