Two Welshpool High School football teams have qualified this week through to the last eight of the Welsh Cup in their respective age groups.
The U12 Boys beat Ysgol Penglais, Aberystwyth, at home on Monday on penalities following a thrilling 4-4 draw. Ollie Brooks, Leon Isaac, Theo Hodgkiss and Robin Bishop bagged the Welshpool goals before they held their nerve for a 5-3 win in the shoot-out.
The U15 Boys weren’t to be outdone on Wednesday, handling the windy conditions best
at Ysgol Bro Teifi, Llandysul, to book their spot with a solitary Liam Howard goal following an excellent counter-attack. The victory was sealed largely down to a resolute Welshpool defence standing firm in the second half.
The U12s now face Bishopston School, Swansea, at home on Thursday, March 2, whilst the U15s face another long away trip to either Porth or Plasmawr.
