Welshpool Hospital has stepped up its security after thieves attempted to steal medications earlier in June.
The force said the incident happened over the weekend of June 5-7 when attepmpts had been made to break into the medical gas storage area. A similar attempt was made in Knighton.
A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “I ask that anyone with any information contacts the police urgently. Depriving a hospital of this vital painkiller could have led to cancelled appointments and disruption to services.
“Whilst the thieves have been unsuccessful on this occasion, security measures have been increased at all hospitals throughout Powys and local residents will be on the lookout.”
