Welshpool’s Town Hall Market Traders have asked the Town Council to intervene after reporting an increase in dogs cocking their legs on their stalls.
The issue was raised with the local authority at the latest Traders monthly meeting, with the problem seemingly being caused by dogs being left unsupervised.
As a result, the Town Council has agreed to erect new signage on the entrances to say, ‘dogs to be kept on a short leash, due to enclosed space’.
Meanwhile, traders have given a lukewarm response to the potential of a monthly Farmers Market being held in the town.
There were mixed opinions, with some traders believing it to be a good idea, and a great way of encouraging trade, but several were concerned that it would have a negative impact on their business, as they are already selling produce such as milk, cheese, honey, chutneys, fruit, vegetables and jam.
Welshpool Town Council is looking into the idea of hosting a Farmers Market, but it is struggling to gain any traction at committee level.
