Welshpool Town Council and Welshpool Community Haven have announced the completion of a new lease agreement which will see the Ann Holloway Day Centre enter a new chapter as a hub for community wellbeing and support services.

Following decisions of the Town Council and the successful conclusion of legal arrangements, the building has been leased to Welshpool Community Haven, a local charity dedicated to supporting residents through community-focused initiatives.

The lease will allow Welshpool Community Haven to continue developing services from the building, including the recently transferred Meals on Wheels service, alongside other wellbeing and social support activities for local residents.

Cllr Phil Owen, Mayor of Welshpool said: “Securing a positive future for the building has been an important priority for the Council.

“By leasing it to Welshpool Community Haven, we are ensuring that it remains a place that serves the community while allowing the Council to step back from direct delivery.

“The agreement provides stability for the charity while protecting the Council’s long-term interests.”

Laura Hares from Welshpool Community Haven added: “We are delighted to be taking on the lease and to continue building a welcoming, supportive space for the community.

“The building already plays an important role in people’s lives, and we look forward to working with volunteers, partners and residents to develop new opportunities from this base.”

The council and the charity have worked closely together throughout the process to ensure continuity of services and a smooth transition.
