A whopping 192 letters were posted to Father Christmas via the special Town Hall post box in December, providing a logistical challenge for his ‘little helpers’.
Speaking at the latest Events and Planning Committee meeting for the Town Council, events co-ordinator Kimberly Wright explained that almost 50 letters arrived during the week running into Christmas alone.
“If we are going to do it again and you are happy for Santa to write the responses, we will have to shorten the deadlines,” she said.
All letters posted in the Town Hall’s North Pole mailbox receive a personally signed response from Father Christmas along with a small gift and magic reindeer food.
“Each one does take time,” she explained.
The deadline for posting will be brought forward a week this year, and Cllr Morag Bailey said that she and other councillors would be happy to help with the responses in 2026.
It was also agreed that Welshpool’s Santa Claus would be getting a new outfit this Christmas.
