Tributes paid to young footballer who has died suddenly

Tributes have been paid to a well known local footballer who has died suddenly.

Kerry Football Club posted on its Facebook page today a tribute to Xavier Matisse, 26, who they said was "a popular and cherished member of our group and someone who played a huge part in the club's recent success.

"Our thoughts are with Xav's family, partner Seren and friends at this incredibly difficult time."

Welshpool FC Manager, Gary Jones, also paid tribute to Xavier.

"Thoughts are with everyone at Kerry and his family, one of the best blokes you could meet in life.

"One of my first signings in football, watched the lad grow from a kid to a great bloke."

Facebook tonight is awash with stunned local players and teams paying tribute to Xavier.
