Schools announce closures, Powys suspends all school transport

Powys County Council has followed Shropshire’s lead by suspending all school transport for tomorrow (Friday), due to the expected impact from Storm Goretti.

As a result, several schools have already confirmed they will not be opening including Ysgol Llanfyllin, Llanidloes High School, Bro Caereinion in Llanfair and Forden Primary School.

The number is expected to increase through the evening as the initial impact of the storm hits Mid Wales after about 5pm. The yellow warning will turn to amber at 8pm when heavy snowfall is expected, particularly for high areas.
