Residents in the Welshpool area looking to dump their Easter weekend excess rubbish are facing more frustrations this afternoon with the controversial online booking system down again.
This morning we reported how residents were left frustrated yesterday with the recycling collections not taking place and the system crashing, and this afternoon it appears there are problems once again.
At 3.30pm the Powys County Council’s Highways, Transport and Recycling Facebook issued another apology and we tried logging on, only to be met by a holding page stating:
“We are currently experiencing a technical issue with some areas of the Powys council website, including various forms and the facility to book a time slot to visit our recycling centres.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
“In the meantime, if you have already made a booking, you are welcome to visit our recycling centres.
“Our teams on site are aware and ready to assist. Thank you for your understanding and patience.”
Despite overwhelming opinion against the introduction, Powys County Council went ahead and introduced the new online system on April 1. Users say they have found it to be a generally pleasant experience, but a lot of readers have told us they simply haven’t bothered using it.
There are also charges now in place for certain waste like DIY rubbish.
