Barclays ‘Local’ to close its Welshpool operation

Barclays Bank has delivered another blow to Welshpool customers by halving the days that their staff are available in the town, to just one.

Customers have been informed this week that the weekly Barclays Local service operated out of the COWSHACC (pictured) on a Monday will end on July 14.

It means that customers will only have access to the bank’s personnel on a Friday at the Banking Hub.

In its letter to customers, the bank simply informed them how to “manage your money with us” through the app, online, secure messaging, telephone banking, the Banking Hub or by visiting other branches and Barclays Locals.

They said that over the coming weeks, various groups, charities, businesses, councillors and the MP will be contacted to “hear any thoughts and feedback they have on us closing the site”.

Then, two weeks prior to the last day, a summary of the feedback will be shared.
