Gallery fire will delay reopening

The reopening of Newtown Oriel Davies Gallery along Back Lane has been delayed after a fire in its roof. 

The gallery has been undergoing a £1million refurbishment to allow it to exhibit more exhibitions. But a fire was detected in the roofspace at around 4pm on Wednesday and fire crews from Newtown attended.

The gallery has said the fire was only small and contained, but the official opening will be delayed.
