A Welshpool town councillor is testing the water to see whether a Repair Café would be good for Welshpool.
Cllr Alison Davies, who is an ardent environmental supporter, believes that the initiative would work well, having seen them sprout up at towns and communities across the area.
“Do you think a Repair Café would be a good idea in Welshpool?” she asked in a public appeal on Facebook. “Are you pretty handy at mending things?
“If enough people are willing to help, perhaps we should get together and see whether we can get it off the ground. I’m sure there are plenty who’d use it, so it depends on enough willing repairers!”
Repair Cafés involve groups of volunteer handymen and women come together to provide free advice and repairs for items that could otherwise find their way into landfill.
