The energy company planning to construct huge power projects across Montgomeryshire has teamed up with Montgomery Young Farmers Club (YFC).
Bute Energy was unveiled last night as the shire YFC’s corporate sponsor to ‘not only support Montgomery YFC’s core activities but also provide significant backing for the Youth Forum, a key initiative aimed at giving young members a voice in shaping the future of farming and rural life’.
Bute Energy said that it hopes the partnership will encourage the younger farming community to engage with them on their renewable energy proposals.
The sponsorship has been revealed in the lead-up to Montgomery YFC’s February Festival, which brings together clubs from across the county to showcase their talents on stage at The Hafren Theatre in a week-long pantomime competition.
In a statement, Montgomery YFC said that Bute Energy’s sponsorship will underpin their work to provide opportunities for education, skill-building, and community engagement for young people in rural areas.
A key part of the partnership will be the opportunity for young farmers in the Montgomery YFC community to discuss wind farms and renewable energy projects.
Marc Griffiths, Chair of Montgomery YFC, said: “We are grateful to Bute Energy for their sponsorship and support of Montgomery YFC. This partnership allows our members to develop their skills, strengthen community ties, and have a meaningful voice in shaping the future of rural life.”
Bute Energy’s renewable energy projects form a critical part of Wales’ transition to a low-carbon economy. The company’s portfolio of onshore wind energy parks will collectively produce 2GW of clean energy—enough to power over 2.2 million homes. Bute Energy’s investments not only contribute to the Welsh Government’s renewable energy targets but also create opportunities for local communities through job creation and infrastructure development.
Biba Chuta, Bute Energy Social Mobility Partner, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Montgomery YFC and support their incredible work with young people in Montgomeryshire.
“At Bute Energy, we are committed to helping young people develop the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in a greener society in Wales.
“This partnership provides a valuable opportunity to engage with the next generation of farmers, supporting both their personal development and the wider transition to renewable energy in Wales.
“We’re excited to work with Montgomery YFC to build a more sustainable future together, while ensuring the voices of local communities are heard every step of the way in our renewable energy proposals.”
