Investigation ends into Monday’s Welshpool fire

Monday’s fire that brought a large part of Welshpool town centre to a standstill has been described as ‘accidental’, with the investigation closed.

Berriew Street was closed off all morning as firefighters rushed to the scene from across Mid Wales and Shropshire, with breathing equipment used to bring it under control.

Thankfully no-one was injured, but there was considerable damage to the apartment located above the business premises.

This lunch time, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “The fire investigation has concluded that the fire was accidental but the cause is undetermined."
