A driver on cocaine was arrested by police last night following a dramatic car chase that ended in Welshpool with the vehicle being brought to a halt by a stinger.
Police pursued the car suspecting that the driver was disqualified, and after the spike strip stinger brought the car to a standstill, the chase continued on foot before a 31 year-old man was arrested.
“The vehicle stung and the driver made a run for it but was no match for officers and was caught,” a police spokesperson said. “Checks confirmed he was disqualified. Vehicle (was) seized!
“The driver said he didn’t take drugs but a drug wipe proved different and was positive for cannabis and cocaine.”
The man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, disqualified driving, driving without insurance and has been released under investigation.
