Two women to contest vacant Town Council seat

A large part of Welshpool will head to the polls just before Christmas to elect a new town councillor for the Castle Ward.

Kelly Meredith (below), who has been carrying out a crusade to tidy up the town this year, is trying for a second time to become a councillor, while former councillor, Julie Arnold (right), is bidding for a return to the Town Council having moved back to the area this summer.

Both are listed as Independent candidates with no political allegiance and will go head-to-head in a December 19 election, with voting to take place at the Town Hall.
