Welshpool Medical Practice is installing a new barrier this weekend to stop unwelcome parkers from using their new car park out of hours.
In a statement, the doctors warned that “the GP surgery carpark is private property and not a public carpark”.
It has been a welcome addition since it was purchased from the former Gungrog School, but it has also become a spot for non-patient parkers to use.
“Please be advised that a new barrier will be installed at the entrance to our recently extended patient carpark on Saturday morning with work to begin at 8am,” the statement reads.
“Any cars remaining in this carpark from Friday evening will be locked in until the surgery is open on Monday.
“The GP surgery carpark is private property and not a public carpark. The carpark is open and accessible during surgery hours of 8am-6pm for our patients only.”
Illegal parkers have become an issue in the town since Powys County Council hiked the parking prices in the official car parks.
Another area under pressure is the Railway Station which now appears full before 9am most days.
