And just like that… Starbucks is now open!
The global chain has opened on the Buttington Roundabout following years of planning wrangling and approvals.
But once the green light was given by Powys planners, the chain cracked on and has opened its new Drive-Thru with help from The Heulwen Trust, who joined officials in cutting the ribbon this morning.
A spokesperson for Starbucks told us: “We can confirm our new store in Welshpool opened today (Thursday), bringing the Starbucks experience to more people.
“We’re thrilled to have created 15 new jobs and to have hosted The Heulwen Trust, who offer free trips along the canal for older people and adults and children with disabilities, to cut the ribbon and officially open the store.”
Coffee shop rivals Costa and fast food giant KFC are also in the process of building new branches on the same development.
