An 18-year-old has been arrested following a head-on collision between two vehicles on Saturday night that tragically resulted in one man losing his life.
The A483 was closed all night following the smash near Pool Quay at around 6.50pm which involved a purple Volkswagen and a white Mini.
Sadly, the male driver of the Mini died at the scene, and a female passenger in the Volkswagen was taken to hospital by Air Ambulance where she remains in a serious condition. Two further people also suffered serious injuries.
The 18-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Wales Air Ambulance was in attendance with its Welshpool crew arriving by road and their Cardiff-based helicopter also attending.
“Anyone with information that could help officers with their investigation or anyone who was travelling along the road at the relevant time with dashcam footage is asked to get in touch with us,” a police spokesperson said.
