Welshpool council tax payers were understandably fuming on Easter Monday after being slammed with the double whammy of missed bin collections and the online tip-booking system crashing.
Early Bank Holiday Monday, Welshpool county councillor Graham Breeze warned constituents that their bins would not be collected “due to unforeseen staffing issues”.
Residents have been told that they will try and make up for it today (Tuesday) and if they are not collected, they will have to wait until next week’s scheduled collections instead.
And then to make matters worse, the controversial booking system to allow residents to take their recycling to Potters was down Monday morning, prompting an apology from Powys County Council.
“The technical issue with some areas of the Powys council website has now been resolved, including the facility to book a time slot to visit our recycling centres. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused,” the council stated by lunch time yesterday.
Our readers weren’t happy with one telling us it’s a “load of rubbish” while another emailed: “Great one Powys council, you are going to have to buy a bigger server! On Easter Monday you have a crashed system which will stop everyone booking a slot for recycling. Could do better.”
