The importance of Welshpool’s Meals on Wheels service has been highlighted, and praised by the Town Council.
The service is managed by the local authority and operates from the Ann Holloway Day Centre with meals dispatched daily across the town and surrounding area.
An update was provided by the service’s Wendy Lewis at last night’s Property and Services Committee when she said: “We do 85 meals a week and 35 in house. It’s going really well. It’s a brilliant thing for the community. Sometimes I go out in the car to deliver meals and people are so pleased to receive them.”
Town Clerk Richard Williams thanked the staff and volunteers for “doing such a fantastic job” and committee chair, Cllr Nick Howells, who is the also the driving force behind The Hub at the Town Hall, added: “I hugely appreciate the team at Meals on Wheels for the huge help they give me in running the Hub by baking the potatoes for me throughout the winter.”
